Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/MiddleEast2.html * Flamenco Vision Juan Martín : Musica Alhambra (SP,1996)***°' Tr.1, “La Pasión del Lamento” 10 min Tr.10, “Evocación –de Damasco a Córdoba” 10 min 20 -39 Cooperation and fusing old and new compositions of flamenco-guitarist with Arab musicians and tabla player recalling the Alhambra Music period in the new daylight of present day. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/MiddleEast2.html * Stonemountain Ent. Reza (Derakshani) : Ray of the Wine (IR/US,2005)**° Tr.1, “Wild Hair” 5 min Tr.4, “I’m back” 3 min 8 -47 Cooperation of Persian musician/singer/composer with the help of Doors drummer and a few other artists. Not always perfect arrangements because I think they most of them were made directly out of surprise and improvisation mostly. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/Persiareview.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ part 2 : new Turkish releases, part 1 : * demo Dinar Bandusu : demo (TÜ,2005)-unfinished- ***° cdrcompi.Tr.21, “Feyyaz” 3 min Anatolian psych. We’ll try to get the group to Belgium soon. Info : http://progressive.homestead.com/dinarbandosu.html * Subat Kurban : Sert (TÜ,2004)*°°° Tr.1, «Intro» 1 min Tr.2, «Namus Belasi» (Cem Karaca) 5 min Tr.7, “Yosma” 5 min 11 “Namus Belasi” is a hardrock interpretation of Cem Karaca’s 70’s hit. “Yosma” might be even better, a great version which I think I know from some earlier Turkish interpretation but I don’t remember wherefrom. Info : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/TURKPROG90.html * Yavuz Asöcal Cem Karaca : Ölümsüzler (re.2004?)****° Tr.2, “Namus Belasi” 5 min Tr.1, “Tamirci Ciragi” 5 min Tr.11, “Kavga” 5 min 15 Perfect recent “progressive” rock reissue with good sound quality which is highly recommended ! The original of “Namus Belasi” also has a fantastic keyboard part. I chose to airplay a few other great songs with excellent progressive arrangements. Info on Cem Karaca : http://progressive.homestead.com/CEM_entry.html * Yavuz Asöcal Cem Karaca : Ölümsüzler 2 (compi.2005)**°° Tr.8, “Neredesin” 5 min Tr.10,“Cökertime” 5 min Less perfect but still good recent compilation. * Doublemoon Rec. Replikas : Avaz (TÜ,2005)**°° Tr.3, “0-1” 6 min Tr.6, «Ömür Sayaci» 7 min 13 One of the most interesting and promising Turkish bands now made a just slightly easier alternative rock album. There are less psychedelic, Anatolian and experimental elements in development as before, and there’s a more direct but consitent independent rock sound shown. These are my favourite tracks. Review at http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview2.html * Pb Music Akin Eldes Kafi : Kafi" (TÜ,2002)*° Quiet independent amplified guitar album with bluesy influence. Info : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/TURKPROG90.html * private DDR : 4-track EP demo (TÜ,2004)**° Tr.3, “Kirmizi” 5 min -109 “Primitive”, independent rock with some small post-punk & early wave-rock influence. This is one of two favourite tracks. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview.html * private DDR : demo (TÜ,2005)**°° cdrTr.3, “Kilbane” 3 min cdrTr.6, “Prosedür” 5 min 8 Full album demo release. These are two favourite tracks. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview.html * private Sad Eyed Lemurs : Pasuedon –demo-(TÜ,2005)*°° No titles, not much info, mp3 format, no cover : all things that I prefer better, but I do love the potential in the music of this group. The band leader also plays in the DDR group. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview2.html * private Sad Eyed Lemurs : Yante (TÜ,2005)***° Tr.8, (improvisation) 18 min Very improvised independent music. I like especially the long improvisations. This is a great slowly evolving psychedelic improvisation, at moment with singer a bit like on “Join Hands” from Siouxie and Banshees, but more like slow and calm / tempered psychedelica. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview2.html * private A.Yarr.k : Yapilis Sirasina Göre -EP- + bonus tracks(TÜ,2005)****° Tr.1, “A.Yarr.k” 2 min Tr.12,“Nesepinari” 1 min Tr.13,“Sahsina Münhasir Cins” 2 min Tr.3, “Bamya” 2 min Tr.2, “Arz Düsmani (Emir ile)” 3 min Tr.4, “Dövus Kulübesi” 2 min Tr.5, “Ektrorobot Tekrorobot” 3 min 15 Very experimental, rather unique and psychedelic avant-underground rock with some modern electro(nica) and lots of coughs and vocal -perhaps Dadaistic- surreal focused nonsense, some Turkish percussion. Track 3 has dialling- telephone-number sounds. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview.html If time left : * private A.Yarr.k : bonus tracks of side-projects : Tr.17, A4 “Kimsin” 4 min Tr.19, GoGoMobil : “Which is hard” 2 min First is a funny electronica track. Second track is with English voice and some complex modern rhythm. * private Ayyuka : demo (TÜ,2005)***° Tr.1, “Chacha” 3 min Tr.7, “Unutsutsam (Miam) 4 min Tr.8, “Azgin” 4 min Very good psychrock demo.
